Consupedia is more than a company \u2013 it\u2019s a movement. Our vision is a transparent and sustainable food system where every decision contributes to the UN\u2019s global goals. Through one of the world\u2019s most detailed food and sustainability databases, powered by advanced AI and data analytics, we enable consumers, businesses, municipalities and decision-makers to make informed sustainable choices. <\/p>\n

Consupedia is the result of five years of research and development together with KTH (the Royal Institute of Technology) and Dalarna University. Together, our team of researchers, psychologists, entrepreneurs, developers and AI, has succeeded in what many thought was impossible – to create one of the world’s largest databases for food in relation to sustainability. An encyclopedia for the consumer. <\/p>\n

The idea for Consupedia was born in 2015 when Roberto Rufo Gonzalez lacked a solution where the sustainability of a product could be calculated. This became the beginning of a research project in collaboration with Dalarna University and the Royal Institute of Technology. The project developed a methodology and tools to provide information about a food’s impact on the environment<\/em>, health <\/em>and justice<\/em>. The same methodology is today the basis for climate figures and sustainability scores used by the wholesaler Martin & Servera and by players in Convenience Stores such as Reitan and Convini. <\/p>\n

\n<\/b>Consupedia was founded by Roberto Rufo Gonzalez as a research project in 2016, in collaboration with Dalarna University and the Royal Institute of Technology. A strong partnership with researchers is still today one of the cornerstones of our business. Our expertise lies in linking sustainability data (up to 21 sustainability parameters) to individual ingredients and compound products. We make no assumptions or judgments of our own, but only collect and present existing information in a factual and unbiased manner. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Transparency for a sustainable food system<\/b><\/h3>\n

Our vision is a transparent food system that shows consideration for all living things. By using our services you contribute to that vision. If we do not measure consequences, it just remains a gut feeling. It is only when we have the facts\u2014black and white\u2014that consumers can truly make sustainable choices. Consupedia has mapped 99% of everything sold in grocery stores in Sweden, something no one has done before. And this is just the beginning. <\/p>\n

More than CO2…<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Sustainable development is more than measuring CO2. To get a complete picture, more parameters must be taken into account. <\/p>\n

In the Western world, we have been living in a haze of luxury since the 1980s, depleting the Earth’s resources. It\u2019s not just about the climate\u2014it\u2019s also about how producers have exploited and oppressed people, mistreated animals, made children work, applied too much pesticides ruining our soils, and disrupted the biodiversity. <\/p>\n

Thankfully, we have made great strides in awareness over the past decades. However, it is strange that we almost always measure only one of the many sustainability aspects. Making sustainable choices is about more than just the climate\u2014it\u2019s the total sustainability footprint that is relevant and important. <\/p>\n
