The problem
Food production affects biodiversity through land use, water use and climate change. Land conversion, deforestation and other production effects can drive the loss of species and habitats.
Book a demo Environment · PARAMETER 06
What is the product’s potential impact on species and habitats?
Food production affects biodiversity through land use, water use and climate change. Land conversion, deforestation and other production effects can drive the loss of species and habitats.
The parameter uses the RISE Biodiversity Database for Food. Potential impact is expressed as Potentially Disappeared Fraction (PDF); Consupedia translates the small fPDF values per kilogram into a clear 0–100 scale.
A higher score means a lower potential biodiversity footprint. It makes products with very different raw fPDF values easier to compare.
